President Goodluck Jonathan has reiterated his administration determination to use all available options in handling the threat of terrorism in the country, including dialogue, de-radicalization, rehabilitation and reintegration of members of the dread boko haram that renounce terrorism and embrace peace.

This was made known by the president during his Democracy Day broadcast to commemorate 15th years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria.

“For our citizens who have joined hands with Al Qaeda and international terrorists in the misguided belief that violence can possibly solve their problems, our doors remain open to them for dialogue and reconciliation, if they renounce terrorism and embrace peace.

My government, while pursuing security measures, will explore all options, including readiness to accept unconditional renunciation of violence by insurgents, and to ensure their de-radicalization, rehabilitation and re-integration into the broader society,” he said.

The president shared his thought with parents and guardians of the abducted Chibok girls, assuring them that the security operatives are working round the clock to ensure the safe release of the girls and reunite them with their families.

President Jonathan also enumerated some of his achievements in office, which include high national economic growth rates, steady improvements and expansion of national infrastructure including airports and roads, the restoration of rail transportation, the efficient implementation of a roadmap for improved power supply, a revolutionary approach to agricultural production, as well as advances in education, sports, youth development, healthcare delivery, housing, water supply and other social services.

The president paid tributes to patriots who made the sacrifice for the restoration of democracy in the country, noting that he ordered a low-key celebrations in deference to the current mood of the nation while enjoining the citizens to protect the gains of the Fourth Republic.

Sagna confirms Arsenal exit

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has confirmed widespread speculation that he will be leaving the Gunners during the upcoming transfer window.

The French fullback revealed that negotiations with the London club did not turn out the way he wanted and as a result, he will be leaving once his contract expires at the end of June.

“It's no longer a secret, I'll leave Arsenal,” the 31-year-old told French newspaper L'Equipe from the national team’s training ground at Clairefontaine.

"They tried to make an effort, but the discussions have not gone in the direction I wanted."

Sagna spent seven years at Arsenal, making 284 appearances under Arsene Wenger, and was pleased to end his spell in London with victory in the FA Cup.

“To finish at Wembley with the Cup, it was something magical," he said.

"It was an honour to evolve in that shirt, Even though we were criticised for quite some time due to the lack of trophies, I spent some magical moments there.

"If I had to do it again, I'd do the same thing."

Manchester City are believed to be front-runners in the race to sign Sagna ahead of next season.

President Jonathan allegedly 'Received Video of Missing Chibok Schoolgirls Begging for Prisoner Swap'

Found yet again, this very interesting story, published yesterday on TelegraphUK. These guys say they have sources very close to Boko Haram, that's why I put up their stories. We all need to stay informed.

According to TelegraphUK, sources close to Boko Haram told them Nigeria's president was sent a new video of the schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in which they begged him to spare their lives through a prisoner swap.

The video was said to have been handed to Goodluck Jonathan's office by an intermediary who started a dialogue with the group two weeks ago. The intermediary, a Nigerian journalist, obtained the video as a way of proving to Mr Jonathan's office that he had authentic lines of communication to Boko Haram's leaders.

However, the source claimed that a subsequent deal to release the girls - planned for a week ago on
Monday - was scrapped after Western governments placed pressure on Mr Jonathan not to negotiate for any prisoner swap.

The deal would allegedly have seen around 50 of the girls released in exchange for an equivalent number of Boko Haram fighters currently in Nigerian jails. The Nigerian government has denied that any deal was on the table, and has so far neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the video.

Claims of the video's existence surfaced as Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff claimed that the military now knew where the girls were located.
