Housewife Absconds With New Born Baby


A 44-year-old housewife identified as Patience Nnaemka in Ugbolu community, near Asaba, Delta state has disappeared with a new born baby which she stole at a private hospital ward in the area.

According to report, the woman has been married for close to 10 years with no child and all her efforts to seek help from traditional doctors have proved futile.

Patience was sick with malaria and had been admitted into the private hospital. While she was on admission, the mother of the baby had just put to bed. On the day of the incident, the baby’s mother pleaded with her to help her look after the baby while she went to buy some of the baby things.
Patience was said to have taken advantage of the situation and absconded with the baby.

The mother raised an alarm when she got back and couldn’t find the woman and her baby.

The matter was reported to the police, who began searching for the woman.

Speaking to Leadership, the chief medical director of the hospital who pleaded anonymity, said the incident happened while he was away to pick some documents in the house.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu said the ward orderly attached to the private hospital and the husband of the suspect have been arrested.

The police detectives at the Delta State Police Command, are still seriously searching for the housewife whose where about is unknown
