WOW! Bank robbers escape tall prison building Using BedSheets

An extremely tall prison building couldn't keep two inmates from fleeing, according to prison officials and police reports.

Two bank robbers are still at large after using a makeshift rope to climb down 15 floors from the window of a federal prison in Chicago, Illinois.

Shortly before 5:00 am Tuesday, the staff of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago, realized that cellmates Joseph "Jose" Banks, 37, and Kenneth Conley, 38, had disappeared. After searching the premises, the authorities have indicated that a long rope with knots, apparently made of bed sheets, hung outside their window.

The windows of the building are quite small, and some do not open at all, Frank Bochte, an FBI spokesperson in the Chicago division, told newspapers. Chicago police are still investigating how exactly the cellmates escaped.

The building is located in the heart of downtown Chicago, a few blocks from a federal court. Still, the men managed to escape without anyone seeing them.
"I've been in jail before," one man told a television station. "But I would not have done that. That is scary. He is the new Spider-Man," he added.

Banks and Conley were seen together recently in Tinley Park, a suburb of Chicago. Authorities conducted an exhaustive search of a house in the neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, but the men had already left the scene, Bochte said.

"They are very dangerous," Bochte said. "Both were facing lengthy prison sentences, so obviously they will not want to return to prison voluntarily."
