Lagos Pastor arrested for allegedly impregnating 11yrs old girl

A 32-year-old pastor has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping and impregnating an 11-year-old girl (names withheld) in Lagos State. The pastor whose church is located at Odunbaku Street in Iju Ishaga, a Lagos suburb, was arraigned at a Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abule Egba, Lagos State.

According to reports, the pastor allegedly told the victim’s mother that there is an arrow of death in her house and must move out to avoid death. In obedience, the woman moved into the church with her children.

POLITICAL ADVERTS FROM NIGERIA BANNED BY CNN

Thecable.ng is reporting that popular American News Network, CNN has been turning down political adverts from Nigeria.

Nigerian state and federal governments, private companies and even individuals are known for patronising CNN for adverts even though the cost is said to be up to N5m for a 30-second spot at prime time.

“We approached CNN agents in Nigeria to place some adverts for our principal. We sent the creatives to them as requested and they returned them, saying they do not run commercials that are intended to campaign for votes. We could not believe it,” a consultant to a presidential aspirant told TheCable.

Another, who is working for a state governor seeking re-election, said he had a similar experience. But an official of CNN told TheCable that it was a general rule not to accept certain advertisements and there was no discrimination against Nigerian politicians.

The Nigerian local media will definitely benefit from this rejection as it is expected that these adverts will find their way to the various Nigerian news mediums.

Christian leaders in the troubled Northeastern state of Adamawa have lamented the incessant killings of Christians by Boko Haram insurgents in the area.

In a communique issued at the end of a one day meeting held at Bishop Shehaan Pastoral Centre in Yola, the state capital, on Tuesday, November 11, the Clerics expressed worry over the onslaught, Punch reports.

The atmosphere of the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court was tense on Tuesday when a former Commissioner for Rural Development and a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Tola Kasali, 62, was arraigned for murder.

Arraigned with him were the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Politics and Legislative Matters, Musiliu Folami, 64, and Kasali’s Chief Security Officer, Tobun Abiodun, 38.

According to Punch,the court was filled with party loyalists, supporters and family members of the accused persons, as many others stood outside the court.

They were arraigned on four counts bordering on murder and unlawful possession of firearms.

The police said the men conspired to kill one Musiliu Lamidi on November 9, 2014, around 2pm at Eko Tourism Hotel, Akodo, in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.

The police added that they were found in possession of a pump-action gun, with number 6381, without a valid licence issued by the appropriate authorities.

The corpse of the deceased was said to have been found on the premises of one of the defendants.

The judge granted the defendants bail on “self recognition” and ordered the prosecution to verify their addresses and places of work.

The matter was adjourned till December 11, 2014 pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

MOROCCO DISQUALIFIED FROM PLAYING AND HOSTING AFCON

 

Morocco has been disqualified from hosting the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations because of the spread of the Ebola virus during the tournament.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed this news and even though they are yet to have a new host they said they already have some countries interested in taking over the hosting rights.

Due to the disqualification by CAF, Morocco losses its automatic qualification as hosts and won’t participate in the tournament.

Morocco had asked the ruling body to suspend the tournament till 2016, but CAF had ordered the North African country to make up its mind before Saturday.

CAF’s executive committe had already started informing countries who are interested to take over the hosting of the tournament.

CAF revealed that they hope the selection will be made fast.

The Ebola Virus has killed over 5000 people in western Africa alone and with concern growing through out other African regions to stop the spread of the virus.

Meet an Australian woman, who sought out and fell in love with the anonymous sperm donor who fathered her baby.

The heartwarming “back to front love story” has happened to Amina Hart and her anonymous sperm donor Scott Andersen.

Amina has a hereditary genetic disorder which affects sons but not daughters, had previously lost two baby boys to two separate fathers. At age 42, she decided to try one last time for a healthy baby using IVF, in vitro fertilisation.

In 2012 Hart was finally able to give birth to a wonderful baby girl, Leila. The mystery donator was Scott Andersen, a cattle breeder and football coach, who described himself as “happy and healthy”.

Amina was curious who the father of her daughter was, but was hesitant to investigate. She contacted him via the official IVF register and agreed to meet — at first once a month, and then more often.

After a while, Scott introduced Aminah to his four children from two other relationships, and from there the pair fell in love and have now announced they are engaged.

Mr Andersen said, “Neither of us expected it to happen. I fell in love with Leila before I fell in love with Aminah. It was all odd at the start. But Leila’s beautiful. 

We arranged to meet once a month. Aminah and I became quite friendly and Leila started calling me daddy and coming to me all the time.”

According to the latest update by the United Nations Refugee Agency, Mubi attack launched by Boko Haram insurgents on October 29, forced 13,000 Nigerians out of home country.

As violence in the North-East persists, the number of refugees fleeing to the neighbouring Cameroon increases.

The interviewed refugees narrated how they had to walk on foot for tens of kilometres before finding safety in Cameroon.

However the majority of the 13,000 escaped Adamawa residents, have returned to their final destination in Nigeria, Yola, the Cameroonian authorities said.
