Rivers APC Vows To Return For Full Campaign In Okrika

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has vowed to return to Okrika local government area of the state for its gubernatorial campaign rally despite threats by armed youths who disrupted its outing in the area last Tuesday.

This is as the party called on INEC to sanction the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for violating the codes of conduct for the 2015 general elections.

Chairman of APC in the state, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the party was determined to take its message of hope to the people of Okrika.

In his words: “Yes, the APC will still organise its campaign at Okrika. We cannot be intimidated because Okrika is part of Rivers State. If the PDP can campaign in Okrika, why can’t the APC campaign in Okrika?"
The APC chairman, who condemned the attack on members and supporters of the APC by unidentified gunmen at the party’s gubernatorial campaign rally in Okrika, described PDP as a lawless party.

Also, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state has condemned the unwarranted attack on innocent, harmless and law-abiding journalists who were in Okrika, headquarters of Okrika local government area of the state to cover the botched campaign rally of the APC.
