Gunmen Storm Popular Relaxation Joint In Benue, Kills Four


Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Tuesday raided a popular relaxation joint in Makurdi, Benue state, where they reportedly shot four people dead.

Leadership reports that a source said the armed robbers stormed the popular beer parlor located on the Iorkyaa Ako Street, High Level in Makurdi at about 10:00 p.m, and shot four customers during the operation.
 

The source further revealed that the robbers shot sporadically to scare customers away before eluding with money and other valuable items.
When contacted, DSP Daniel Ezeala, the state police command spokesperson who confirmed the robbery, said investigation has commenced.
 
The force spokesman urged residents to give useful information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals to the police.

It was further gathered that the owner of the joint, Mr. Chinedu was one of the victims, and that other workers who sustained bullets wounds and machete cuts were rushed to Bishop Murray Medical Centre, Makurdi for medical attention.
 
One of the victims who spoke to journalist said: “the robbers came and asked us to lie face down. They collected all we had and asked for the owner of a jeep that was parked. It was when no answer came from us that they began shooting at us”.
