Governor Okorocha Reacts To Foiled Attempt To Bomb Church In Owerri


Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has condemned attempt to bomb the Living Faith Church in Owerri, the state’s capital on Sunday, June 15.

Speaking to newsmen, Okorocha said many innocent people would have lost their lives had the explosives which were planted within the church premises located on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri exploded.

He however called on the people of the state to be security conscious at all times and to report any strange objects or movement around them to security agencies.

He also commended the security agencies for their timely intervention.

Two deadly improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered by the Imo state police 2 days ago at the Living Faith church.

The IEDs were detonated by the anti-bomb squad deployed to the church thereby averting an explosion that would have killed many.

According to the Imo state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, six persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
