Nigeria’s potential Ebola experimental drug called Nano Silver is not a viable treatment for Ebola virus, the manufacturers said.
Nano Silver is not a cure for Ebola virus, it’s a diet supplement
The company’s sub Saharan Africa Coordinator, Mr. Adetunji Fadayiro, in Lagos, issued a statement where he dispelled rumours about Nano Silver’s ability to beat the Ebola disease.
The official company’s statement claims that Nanosilver had 15 government approvals for various uses. However, Minerals for Life Limited did not claim Nanosilver as a cure for Ebola, as it classified as a dietary supplement.
Minerals for Life once again reminds their concerned clientele that Nanosilver is approved by the United States Department of Agriculture and Food, with a pesticide registration. It is also approved by the same U.S Department of Agriculture and Food with Food Establishment approval.
The company stressed out that Nanosilver was meant to boost the immune system and provide the needed nutrients for the proper functioning of the body.
The World Health Organization opened the door for experimental Ebola drugs this week, after a panel of ethicists it convened condoned such treatments because of the challenges controlling an outbreak that has killed over 1,100 people.
The Government of Lagos State has reportedly declared that only US-made ZMapp drug will be allowed for treating Ebola infected patients, while the use of Canadian-made experimental vaccine, Nano Silver, is halted.
