A Requiem Mass, also known as ‘Mass for the dead’, was held this morning at Our Lady Queen Pro-Cathedral Catholic Church, Garki Abuja, in honor of late Prof Dora Akunyili.
Her husband, Dr John Akunyili, and her children led the casket conveying her body into the church.
In attendance were, President Jonathan, his wife Dame Patience Jonathan, members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and members of the National Assembly.
Also in attendance were former ministers, former governors Peter Odili and Peter Obi of Rivers and Anambra, as well as the APGA Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh.

Professor Akunyili died at the age of 59 at an Indian Hospital on Saturday, June 7, 2014, after a two-year battle with cancer.
A night of tributes was held in her honor, yesterday, 25th of August, 2014 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
She will be buried this Thursday, August 28, at John Chike Akunyili’s Compound at 1.30pm.
Dora served as a Minister of Information and Communications from 2008 to 2010. She was also a former Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
